We cannot say thank you enough to HRI, Inc. for everything that they are doing in the fight against cancer. Welcome back, and we hope to see everyone back again at this year's tournament! May 28 and 29, 2015.
What a great night! We appreciate everyone who made the trip to the BJC to help support the Men's Basketball Team and Coaches vs. Cancer. We had a great chance to highlight all the wonderful things that Coaches vs. Cancer, the American Cancer Society, and some of our other great partners, like the Bestwick Foundation and the Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund, are doing to help those with cancer in our community.
Introduced as just the 12th head coach in Nittany Lion basketball history in June 2011, Patrick Chambers quickly energized the Penn State fan base with his passion and enthusiasm and his team's all-out style of play. Attitude is the name of the game for everything Patrick Chambers does. He and the Nittany Lion basketball program live by the motto of approaching adversity with a choice. You can either face challenges with a positive attitude or dwell on them with a negative attitude.
“We strive within our basketball program to reach a standard of excellence from our players, coaches and staff. We believe the same standard, with energy and enthusiasm, can be applied to Coaches vs. Cancer ® (CVC) of Penn State to make it one of the most successful programs in the country helping the American Cancer Society provide support. We’ve had challenges, as a basketball team and in our daily lives, but we always strive to meet them and overcome them. As I tell the players, if you stay focused with your attitude, you can accomplish anything. It takes a team effort to make a difference in the fight against cancer in our community and beyond, and that’s our goal.”
The CVC Golf Tournament is the flagship event of the organization created to raise funds year-round to support the American Cancer Society. It has more than doubled in size since it began in 1997, and there could not be a better man with a better attitude continuing to lead the Penn State CVC fight than Coach Chambers.
With the funds raised in 2013, the CVC eclipsed $2 million raised in the fight against cancer. While it was a fun day on the golf course, the bigger fight cannot be stated enough.
